About a week after the men's conference awards were handed out, Syracuse Orange women's lacrosse Kayla Treanor and coach Gary Gait followed in the footsteps of Kevin Rice and Coach Desko winning the ACC Offensive Player of the Year and Coach of the Year awards, respectively.
For the third year in-a-row, Treanor has eclipsed 50 goals on the season, with 53 and counting in 2015. In games where she hasn't produced, others have stepped up, but the offense is better when she contributes with goals or assists, the team scoring 241 of its 274 total goals on the season in those games. She comes up big in situations where the Orange need her most, most recently scoring the game-winners against Boston College and UNC in double overtime in the ACC Tournament.
In his eighth year at the helm, Gary Gait has posted his eighth-straight winning season. The team will make its fourth NCAA Tournament appearance in-a-row. The only year that the team did not get a bid was 2011, a year in which they went 10-8. Since then, Syracuse has made two appearances in the National Title game and three appearances in the Final Four.
