Syracuse Basketball Recruiting: Tyler Lydon Becomes the First 2015 Commit for the Orange

Syracuse continues on its path towards a roster compiled entirely of Tylers.

With a large, five player class on campus this fall, and two impressive prospects verballed to the Orange for 2014, Syracuse has landed its first verbal commitment of the 2015 class with Pine Plains, New York native Tyler Lydon.

Lydon, who is ranked as a four star prospect on all four major recruiting sites, is listed between 6'8" and 6'9" and 180-185 lbs in most places, and looks to fit the Syracuse prototype for rangy forwards.  He also holds offers from a number of ACC rivals and other power conference schools, including Boston College, Clemson, Florida, Iowa, Iowa State, Maryland, Minnesota, Notre Dame, Vanderbilt, Virginia, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.

Lydon was up at Syracuse at SU's Elite Camp back in August, according to this Syracuse.com article.

His (potential) future teammates chimed in shortly after he made his announcement:

Rivals is high on Lydon's skills, listing his shooting, handle, and passing as 'good', while saying his strength is 'developing', which makes sense for a 180 lb power forward.

Lydon, who plays his high school ball at New Hampton School in New Hampshire and for AAU team Albany City Rocks, is ranked as the #14 power forward in the 2015 class by ESPN and 247sports, while Scout lists him at 18 in their power forward rankings.
