Sometimes you just gotta roll around in the slop and that is sure what the Syracuse Orange and North Carolina Tar Heels did today on route to a 12-11 Syracuse victory.
At times during this game it was simply two groups of folks running to one end line to another end line. Just a track event with turnovers in between.
The Orange scored the final four goals of the game with Curry being involved in two of them. With 1:34 remaining in the game and SU down 12-10 Curry hit back to back goals to tie it at 12 and send it to OT.
The Orange won the overtime draw, brought it into the zone and indicated for a timeout. When the action started again, Brendan Curry was working behind cage. Curry saw an opening and with Brendan Bomberry working on the crease the freshman sent the pass straight to Lefty Bombs as he tip toed the crease and batted it in giving Syracuse the 12-11 overtime win against North Carolina.
Carolina now moves to 6-7 and continues on with seven straight losses.
If you’re looking for a player of the game, however, it has to go Nate Solomon. The junior put away four goals on Saturday bringing his total to 17 on the year.
His first might of been his sickest, coming just 56 seconds into the second period.

He threw fake after fake today and landed all of them. Just a heck of performance, this team needs someone on offensive to lead and if he can step into that role consistently SU can find some post season success.
The Orange continued to dive into the mud with Carolina to start the second half before we were treated to this kick save and a beauty.

I’ve found that when this team loses Dom Madonna takes a ton of heat, right behind Desko of course, and usually for no good reason. Kid has been really, really good this year, and he had eight, key saves today.
The vast majority of this game is probably one both of these teams want to forget, but for the Orange this is another checkmark on the way to post-season play.
Syracuse will host the Navy Midshipmen next week in the Carrier Dome at 2 PM.
