The Atlantic Coast Conference awarded its weekly honors to two Syracuse Orange players. The Offensive Player of the Week went to Tucker Dordevic for his four goal performance on Sunday. The number 27 ranked incoming freshman this year has already made an impact for the Orange. Entering Sunday, the midfielder had two goals on the season before going off against Virginia for four tallies including the game winner with just over 12 seconds remaining. While there haven’t been many, Dordevic is the second shooter Syracuse has had from the state of Oregon, following in the footsteps of Henry Schoonmaker.
The ACC Defensive Player of the Week went to redshirt freshman Brett Kennedy. Making his second start in place of injured defenseman Tyson Bomberry, Kennedy scored twice on four shots and if you watched the game you know how close he was to putting away all four. The Ridgewood, NJ native also had five groundballs on the day.
These are two of the rising stars on this youth heavy Syracuse team. Defensively we have seen how deep this squad is, losing a top two defenseman and still not missing a beat. That being said, let’s see if the transition tempo is pushed when Tyson returns, there are suddenly two defensive scoring threats on this team.
