Syracuse Lacrosse: The Orange fall out of first

The Syracuse Orange took a small drop in each poll, landing in the third position after an ACC Tournament loss to North Carolina.

Well it took long enough, but after a six point loss to Penn the Virginia Cavaliers are not ranked in any of the polls. The Syracuse Orange fell to third in each poll following its loss in the ACC Semifinals to the North Carolina Tar Heels. After the win over Syracuse, the Heels went on to beat Notre Dame in the ACC Championship game and move up significantly in every poll. Notre Dame beat Duke in the semis and sits fourth in every ranking while the Blue Devils move down several spots.

Just like in the preseason, the polls really don’t matter much right now; it’s all about the RPI and quality wins. Personally, I would put Maryland first over Denver and I think UNC is certainly better than Towson and Hofstra. Therefore, once again, I mostly disagree with the Nike/US Lacrosse poll, but there’s not too much to gripe about this week.
