Inside Lacrosse released its 2017 Midseason All-Americans on Thursday. The Syracuse Orange had two players named to the list, Sergio Salcido on the first team and Nick Mariano on the second team. Salcido leads the Orange in assists with 16 and ranks 11th in the country in assists per game. He has eight goals to give him 24 points in 2017. Nick Mariano has been featured on the attack and midfield this year is tied for a team high 15 goals while leading SU in points with 26. Overall, not much of a surprise for Syracuse.
A lot of teams were featured on the list. Syracuse’s next opponent, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, has four players total listed and three on the first team while the Richmond Spiders have two on the first team. Richmond is first in the country in scoring defense with goalkeeper Benny Pugh first in the country in save percentage and goals against average.
Last season Syracuse had three players on the second team including Dylan Donahue, Sergio Salcido, and Nick Mellen.
