For the third time this year the ACC has given a Syracuse Orange player of the week honors. Nick Mariano earned ACC co-Offensive Player of the Week. The senior transfer put up three goals and one assist on Saturday against the Duke Blue Devils. More impressively, the Syracuse points leader’s three goals came on five shots and just three on net. Mariano’s second netter of the game also earned him his 100th career goal.
With the Orange down by one, and just 1:26 left to go in the game, Mariano muscled his short stick defender as he swept across the box. He was able to gain a step and get free to fire a side arm shot to tie the game at 11. It was the second time this year that Mariano was the late game hero after a game winner against the Albany Great Danes.
Previously, Evan Molloy has been named the ACC Defensive Player of the week twice.
