GameThread: #6 Syracuse Orange (5-1) vs. #11 Duke Blue Devils (7-2)

Welcome to Game Day!

The #11 Duke Blue Devils take a trip to the Carrier Dome to faceoff with the #6 Syracuse Orange at 1:30 PM this afternoon. The game can be seen on ESPNU and heard on TK99/105. Check out my preview of the Dukies here.

7-2 Duke is coming off of a three game winning streak entering today’s matchup. Freshman have been big in college lacrosse this year and we are sure to see a lot of young guys in the game for Duke today, especially at the midfield position.

The Orange have a three game winning streak of its own, including wins over the Virginia Cavaliers and Johns Hopkins Blue Jays. The SU defense has been the best part of this roster through six games, headlined by some phenomenal play from goalie Evan Molloy who was named the ACC Defensive Player of the Week and USILA National Defensive Player of the Week for his seven save performance against Hopkins. As for the offense, we need to see more consistency throughout the game. The second period continues to be the achilles heel of this team, in fact the Orange have just two goals in the second period in the last three games.
