Syracuse Lacrosse: Chaos hits the polls for the second week in a row

The Syracuse Orange stay hold mostly steady in the rankings, while the rest of the polls get shaken up.

The 5-0 Hofstra Pride made a huge jump in all of the polls this week after taking down the North Carolina Tar Heels. Carolina, which lost to Richmond Monday night (that game was not included in the polls) now sit at or near the bottom of the top ten for each poll and are likely to continue falling next week. The Duke Blue Devils beat Loyola last week (and Jacksonville on Monday night) and gained positions in each ranking, although the Dukies were not ranked in the US Lacrosse poll last week. Notre Dame falls out of the top spot in each ranking after losing a one goal game to Denver. Syracuse barely escaped St. John’s last week and stayed steady in the Media Poll and US Lacrosse Rankings but did move up two places in the USILA Poll. Finally, Virginia had a one goal win over Cornell in California and moved up slightly in each poll.

The Michigan Wolverines picked up its first ever win over a ranked team last week in a one goal win against Penn. While still unranked in two of the rankings, Michigan does land in the 15 spot in the US Lacrosse poll.

The Pollsters are split when it comes to the number one overall ranking. Denver’s win against Notre Dame earned it the top spot in two polls while undefeated Penn State is the top dog in the US Lacrosse rankings.
