The ACC announced its weekly award winners for week 2, on Monday. Virginia attackman Mike D’Amario took home the offensive Player of the Week after scoring four goals to help the Cavaliers to a 18-14 win over the Drexel Dragons.

On the other side of the field, Syracuse Orange goalie Evan Molloy won Defensive Player of the Week honors following a 10-9, last second win against the Albany Great Danes. The senior had nine saves on Saturday including five in the first half to keep the game within reach for Syracuse. His 7.58 goals against average is good enough for 11th in the country while his .552 save percentage puts him tied at 24th. Although he’s only had 16 saves in the year, his average of eight per game is the highest save per game number in the ACC.

This marks just the second time since joining the ACC that a Syracuse goalie has won the Defensive Player of the Week award while only the eighth time ever that a Syracuse player won the award and the sixth time ever that a Syracuse player not named Ben Williams won the Defensive Player of the Week.

The Syracuse Orange will take on the Army Black Knights in the Carrier Dome this Saturday at noon. The game can be seen on the TWCS/ACC Digital Network/ESPN3 and heard on TK99/105. You can also follow me @Orangelax for updates.
