Well it appears as if we have some answers for this year.
The Syracuse Orange took down the Siena Saints 19-6 in the Carrier Dome on Saturday. The game was pretty close through the first quarter, but beginning at the end of the first the Orange went on a 9 goal run and never looked back.
First up, Nate Solomon came to play. The sophomore got the start today, putting away four goals. In fact, five Syracuse players had at least three goals on Saturday. Nick Mariano had three goals and four assists while the final starting attackman, Jordan Evans, had three goals and five assists. Evans played well all day, and he really looked comfortable in the quarterback role. Brad Voigt got some time at attack and had a goal of his own on a beautiful feed from Matt Lane.
The midfield was led by transfer Brendan Bomberry and his four tallies, none more impressive than this one:

It looks like Bomberry will fit in nicely with this group. Speaking of Bomberrys, cousin Tyson was aggressive all game and snagged three groundballs and a caused turnover. However, Tyson also through down a HUGE hit on Tyler Pantalone in the third quarter. I’m trying to find some video but nothing yet. Defensively, Syracuse looked a little soft at times, but I am not too worried as we should get Nick Mellen back next week.
In goal, Evan Molloy grabbed seven saves and allowed four goals through almost three quarters before being taken out with what looked like an injury after taking a shot off of his right wrist. He appeared ok on the sidelines, so I don’t think there’s too much to worry about. Dom Madonna filled in for Molloy the rest of the night with three saves and two goals against.
Overall I was pretty happy with what I saw. I’m going to rewatch it and give y’all another post in a little why with some deeper takeaways.
