GameThread: #7 Syracuse Men's Lacrosse (8-4) vs. #10 North Carolina (8-5)

With two compelling matchups in the first round of the ACC Tournament, the Orange take on UNC in the 6 PM slot live from Kennesaw, GA. SU took home the regular season game, but Carolina is looking hot after a comeback win over Notre Dame.

This year the ACC Tournament moves south to Fifth Third Bank Stadium on the campus of Kennesaw State University in Georgia. The Syracuse Orange and North Carolina Tar Heels will take the field at 6 PM in the first game of the semifinals followed by a clash between the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Duke Blue Devils.

The Orange look to go 2-0 on the season versus Carolina and move on to the ACC Championship game which will be played on Sunday at noon. SU had no problem downing the Binghamton Bearcats last week and have had some significant time to rest up prior to Friday's tilt. On the other side, Carolina had a major win last weekend against the Irish and look to be back up to speed after falling to Syracuse 13-7 just two weeks ago.

While the groundball battle will play a huge part today, the most heated matchup will be at the faceoff X where two of the nation's best will go head-to-head once again. Although Ben Williams has a better faceoff winning percentage than Stephen Kelly and took home 16 of 24 faceoffs in the previous game against UNC, Kelly was named to the All-ACC Team over Williams earlier in the week.

Offensively, the Heels couldn't get its dodging game going in the first game and the Orange gave up nothing to the inside. Brandon Mullins had his best game in I don't know how long with three caused turnovers and four groundballs. He and Nick Mellen will need to be on point against a Carolina attack that has an explosive ability.
