As you prepare for the men's and women's final four tonight, the Syracuse Orange lacrosse team will take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Carrier Dome at 5 PM. The Irish enter the game with a 6-1 record having won its last two games against the Virginia Cavaliers and Ohio State Buckeyes. Notre Dame's only loss on the season was an overtime loss to the Denver Pioneers. The most important piece for the Irish today might be Sergio Perkovic. The junior midfielder has 75 career goals, a great outside shot and an ability to create insane momentum for his team.
The most interesting in-game battle may be the clearing game. These are two of the best riding and clearing teams in the country. At the faceoff X, the Orange will need Ben Williams to get back to his 2015 form today if they want a chance of walking away with the win. Williams will be going up against P.J. Finley and his .496 faceoff winning percentage.
Syracuse features a high powered offense led by Dylan Donahue and Nick Mariano. I am interested to see how Notre Dame matches up against the dynamic offense ability that Syracuse brings to the table.
Check out my two Notre Dame previews below for further reading on this matchup.
