Heading into the summer, the biggest question marks for Syracuse Lacrosse was arguably the final two starting attack positions. Well, according to a report from LaxLessons.com Nick Mariano will be transferring from UMass and will join the Syracuse Orange for the 2015-16 season.
The junior out of Yorktown, NY, had originally considered Syracuse during the high school recruiting process, but said that he chose UMass due to the familial feel he had with the coaches.
Mariano was Inside Lacrosse's 34th best freshman in 2013-14, and in his first year at UMass, a year in which he put up a team high 39 points and led all Minutemen in goals, he was named the CAA Rookie of the Year. In both 2014 and 2015 Mariano picked up second team All-CAA honors.

As you can see, he had a heck of a freshman year and not only did it continue into his sophomore year but he also learned to spread the ball more in year two. I think this could be a big move for SU. This year will be the first time at the collegiate level that Mariano will not be the best offensive player on the field, and hopefully he can thrive in this new role especially since he may have less defensive pressure on him than he's used to.
For the highlights below, Nick is #23:
Go to the 3:24 minute mark for a sick, no-angle goal...
