Syracuse Lacrosse: Back to the Top Spot in the Polls

New, 19 comments

The Syracuse Orange take back the no. 1 ranking in both polls this week, after taking home the ACC Championship. Naturally, all five ACC teams remain in the top 10 with Virginia bringing up the back at no. 8 in both.

The Syracuse Orange are once again the no. 1 team in the land. Between the two polls, only one first place vote did not go the way of Orange. The ACC continues to have a strangle hold on the top three positions in the USILA poll while the Media Poll voters elevated the Denver Pioneers to the third spot at the expense of the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Duke Blue Devils enter the top five in both polls this week after making it to the ACC Championship game as the no. 4 seed. Meanwhile, the Virginia Cavaliers will enter the week at no.8.

After winning the Patriot League, the Colgate Raiders received a big bump from both the coaches and the media, landing at the no. 13/12 spots. Colgate could also make some noise this week when it hosts the no 1 Syracuse Orange on Saturday. Johns Hopkins returns to both polls this week after taking a brief hiatus. The Jays enter at no. 17/16 following a huge win over the Maryland Terrapins and will play the Penn State Nittany Lions in the Big Ten semifinals.
