Syracuse Lacrosse Drops to No. 2 in Latest Polls

Syracuse dropped to the second position in both polls this week after losing to Notre Dame in double overtime last weekend. The Orange still grabbed one first place vote in the Media Poll, but Notre Dame took home this week's #1 spot in both polls.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish move up one spot to the #1/1 position in both polls, swapping spots with the Syracuse Orange. Notre Dame took 24 of the 25 first place votes in the Media Poll while Syracuse took one of the first place votes. In the Coaches Poll, the Irish took 21 of the 22 first place votes while the Maryland Terrapins grabbed one of the top votes. The ACC has all five teams in the top 10 of both polls once again with the Virginia Cavaliers at the back of the pack landing at the #8/6 spot.

The top five positions in both polls are the same and we don't see a lot of movement in the top 10. The only newcomer to that top 10 is the Brown Bears who take the Princeton Tigers place after taking down Princeton 10-8 this past weekend. The Ivy League features four teams in both polls: Cornell, Brown, Princeton and Yale.

The only team with a losing record in both polls is the Johns Hopkins Blue Jays. The Jays sit at 4-5 and have just one win over a currently ranked opponent, the Navy Midshipmen. On the other side, Hopkins' five losses are all against teams currently ranked.

The Boston University Terriers, entering the Media Poll for the first time in program history last week, fall out of the Media Poll after a loss to Navy. Meanwhile, the Loyola Greyhounds find themselves in the #20 position in the Coaches Poll but got dropped from the Media Poll after a 4-11 loss to the Colgate Raiders.
