The Syracuse lacrosse programs, both men and women, could earn Big East Conference Tournament titles Saturday, as each play in its respective league championship games.
The No. 5-ranked men (12-3) will play host No. 20 Villanova at noon on ESPNU. The Orange are trying to defend their title for the fourth straight season, and end their short-lived Big East run with nearly an unblemished resume.
SU will also be looking to avenge a 11-10 loss to the Wildcast earlier this season.
One thing to look out for, besides commentator Quint Kessenich saying something bad about SU, is senior midfielder JoJo Marasco gunning to break Paul Gait's single-season assist record for a middie. Marasco dished out for assists in the Orange's 9-3 victory over Notre Dame on Thursday, which raised his season total to 34. Gait totaled the same amount in 1990.
Meanwhile in the nation's capital (1 p.m. on CBS Sports Network), the top-seeded and No. 5-ranked women will take on host Georgetown.
SU made it to the final thanks to a 19-6 beat down of UConn. The Orange will be looking for their first championship since 2008 when they defeated Notre Dame. The past two seasons, SU lost in the finals.
Earlier in the season, Syracuse easily defeated Georgetown 13-7.
