National Signing Day, Syracuse Recruiting: Parris Bennett Brings Some Detroit Swag

This 3-star linebacker out of Detroit was one of the first two NSD letters the Orange received on Wednesday.

Stat Me: Parris Bennett is a 6-foot, 210-pound linebacker from Detroit, MI. In his senior season for U-D Jesuit he compiled 139 tackles, seven for a loss, and one sack. On offense he grabbed 14 passes for 239 yards and two touchdowns and was named to the All-Detroit First Team.

Seein' Stars: Scout -- 3 stars and Rivals -- 2 stars.

Who's Crying?: Pitt, Akron, Bowling Green, Toledo and Western Michigan.

Money Quote: Via Syracuse.com.

"(Lea) said I could play middle because I'm athletic and I can cover," Bennett said, "and also I can play (strong side linebacker) to rush the passer. I have pretty long arms."

Which SU Coach Gets a Bonus?: Clark Lea, Syracuse's linebackers coach, gets the star for snagging this guy. Props to current SU linebacker Cameron Lynch for pushing Bennett towards this decision too.

Fun Fact: There is a Paris Bennett that played hoops at George Mason and transfered. A Google search provides no information on where Bennett ended up. Here's to hoping he is okay.
