Syracuse Basketball To Hold Midnight Madness Oct. 18

Syracuse basketball season is right around the corner. How do we know? James Arthur Boeheim is spilling the beans on all the upcoming events. Get ready to mark your calendars.

The Syracuse Orange basketball team will begin practice exactly a week from today, Sept. 27th, and hold its annual Orange Madness event on Oct. 18, Syracuse.com's Donna Ditota is reporting.

The date for SU's Orange Madness is the same as ESPNU's Midnight Madness special:

ESPN has yet to formally announce the participants in its annual Midnight Madness enterprise. An SU official has said the university was negotiating with ESPN to appear during the show.

SU spokesman Pete Moore said last week the school would make an announcement when details for Orange Madness had been finalized.

All of this news came from Jim Boeheim, who also confirmed Syracuse will be playing in early-season tournaments, the 2K Sports Classic in New York City, in 2014 and, the Battle 4 Atlantis, in 2015.

So, if you're trying to start a Syracuse basketball calendar you can confidently place all of these dates and destinations on them.

Personally, I hope Boeheim sticks around for the Bahamas so we can all see him chilled out on the beach. Though, we may get to see Boeheim in a Hawaiian shirt in just a few months.
