The Syracuse Orange arrived in New York City Tuesday night in preparation for December 29th's Pinstripe Bowl match-up with the West Virginia Mountaineers. Wednesday, they hit the town in sailor suits, singing showtunes and dancing in the streets.
After a "complete assessment of the facts," SU announced that Spruill "will not play a significant portion of the upcoming bowl game."
The big reason that the Syracuse Orange were picked to play in the Pinstripe bowl instead of the Pittsburgh Panthers is that the Orange are known commodity when it comes to ticket sales. It looks like those expectations will be met.
The Pinstripe Bowl and SU folks realize they have to do a little PR here to make the Steinbrenner Trophy appear important and of value. So, they're shopping the hardware around Syracuse today and giving you a chance to see it up close and person.
