Get To Know Your Orange Man - #10 Terrel Hunt

Terrel Hunt is one of the two quarterbacks vying for the starting spot this Saturday against Penn State.

Yes, I used this picture last year. It's too great to not use again.

Name: Terrel Hunt

Position:Quarterback

Year: Redshirt Sophomore

Height: 6'3"

Weight: 219

Hometown: Rosedale, NY

High School: Christ the King

2012 Stats: Played in one game (USC) on specials

2013 Projections: Well, that all depends if he's named the starter or not. Quarterback remains the biggest mystery for Syracuse. I, like many, assumed that Drew Allen would have wrestled this starting job away from Hunt more quickly than he has, and while signs seem to be pointing towards Allen starting on Saturday, the fact that Hunt is right there bodes well for the future.

How'd He Get Here?: Terrel got looks from BC, Rutgers, UConn, and Temple, but Syracuse received the blessing of his late mother, and Hunt ultimately chose Doug Marrone's Orange.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Three stars from the sites.

Money Quote: Hunt, on getting ready for Saturday:

"I wouldn't care if it was Saturday morning (before kickoff) or today," Hunt said. "You work so hard, you prepare like you're the starter no matter what position you are. If you're second string, first string you just prepare. Prepare, and when your time comes you're ready."

Links of Wonder: Nate Mink profiled Hunt this Spring. It's a great look into the hardships that Terrel has had to overcome over the last few years, including the loss of both of his parents.

Tweets of Wonder:

What Does Shafer Think: Shafer, on Terrel's emergence in the Spring.

"Terrel did a great job," Shafer said. "It’s an interesting thing. There are only so many reps a kid can get in the fall outside the scout team. Terrel was caught in the middle of being the third or fourth guy and seeing if he was going to get repetitions with Ryan [Nassib] getting all the reps and Charley [Loeb] getting a handful of leftovers, really. So as we went into spring ball, it was really wide open."

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Hunt was a three-time captain at Christ the King, which is pretty wild. Don't be shocked if Hunt spends a few years as a captain here at SU as well.

Let Us Get a Good Look Atchya: I can't find the episode of Havoline Football Saturdays that featured Terrel back in July, but it is excellent. Try to find it if you can. Otherwise, there are plenty of other great videos about Terrel out there:
