Name: Chauncey Scissum
Position: Cornerback
Year: Freshman
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 199
Hometown: West Henrietta, NY
High School: Rush-Henrietta
2012 Stats: 23 total tackles, and 679 passing yards on 58-of-75 passing with nine touchdowns for R-H.
2013 Projections: Given Syracuse's great depth at corner, Chauncey is a prime redshirt candidate. I really like his potential going forward, and it's always nice to have bigger corners to match-up with the physical receivers of the ACC.
How'd He Get Here?: Scissum was all set to go to ODU, but when Scott Shafer got the head coaching job, Scissum received an offer shortly thereafter.
What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Three stars from Scout, 247, and ESPN, and two from Rivals.
Money Quote: On the other Syracuse defensive backs:
"They all fly around to the ball," Scissum said. "They’re all headhunters. They’re trying to get the ball back and give it to the offense in a good situation."
Links of Wonder: Football wasn't Scissum's only sport at Rush-Henrietta. He was also a track and lacrosse star.
Tweets of Wonder: If the grind never stop, does one grind through the shine, that one looks to achieve when one grinds? Is there a flowchart somewhere?
Thankful for another day! Grind never stops

What Does Shafer Think:
"I think this kid is probably the biggest dark horse in the class. He’s highly motivated from the academic side. He can probably play a number of positions. He’s still growing. We’ll start him out at corner, he can play safety, he can play nickel linebacker. We’ve had him in our camps and I can’t wait to see him in uniform."
Interesting Nugget O'Interest: I wasn't blowing smoke when I said track star. Scissum finished 19th nationally in the triple jump and was on the 48th ranked 4x200m relay team at the New Balance Nationals in the Spring.
