Name: Dyshawn Davis
Position: Outside Linebacker
Year: Junior
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 220
Hometown: Woodbury, NJ
High School: Woodbury HS by way of Milford Academy
2012 Stats: 69 total tackles (14 TFL), a sack, an intereption, and two fumble recoveries.
2013 Projections: Dyshawn should be a major playmaker on this defense, and maybe even one of the top linebackers in the conference. With questions at defensive end, it will likely be up to guys like Davis and Cam Lynch to get a lot of pressure from the outside for Chuck Bullough's defense.
How'd He Get Here?: Dyshawn was originally recruited to the 2009 class as a wide receiver, and the coaches were REALLY excited about him there. Marrone raved about him at a signing day event in the football wing in Manley. However, he was a non-qualifier and went to Milford Academy, where he spent one semester. The Milford coaches moved him to safety, I'm sure at the behest of the Syracuse staff, and he wound up at linebacker when he reached Syracuse that winter.
What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Three stars from Scout and 247, two from Rivals and ESPN.
Money Quote:
Coming in to the ACC, guys might not know (about us)," Davis said. "We're coming into the ACC not to just be an average team. We're coming into the ACC to win a championship, an ACC championship. Teams better watch out. That's all I can say.
Links of Wonder: Dyshawn has big expectations for SU heading into the ACC.
Tweets of Wonder: Dyshawn (who hasn't tweeted in over a year) asks the hard-hitting questions about Dyshawn:

What Does Shafer Think: Shafer is a dreamer:
Shafer dreamed of the same body frame -- Davis is 6 feet 2 and 202 pounds with incredible wing span -- tormenting opposing offenses as an uber-athletic linebacker with the speed of a skill position player. Sure, Davis would have to pack on a bit of weight, but the potential payoff was more than worth the time investment.
Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Phil Steele named Davis to his pre-season All-ACC first team earlier in the year. Hopefully Dyshawn's season warrants his inclusion on the real thing after the year is up.
