Get To Know Your Orange Man - #39 Eric Anthony

Baldwinsville native Eric Anthony is a recent addition to the Syracuse walk-on corps.

Name: Eric Anthony

Position: Defensive Back

Year: Freshman

Height: 5'11"

Weight: 199

Hometown: Baldwinsville, NY

High School: C.W. Baker

2012 Stats: Recorded 47 tackles and one interception, as well as 212 receiving yards and a touchdown last year for C.W. Baker.

2013 Projections: Scout team duty

How'd He Get Here?: Local kid wants to play D-1 football. Sounds good to me.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Didn't find anything on the recruiting sites.

Money Quote: Eric, on accompanying local seniors to the state fair with his Baldwinsville teammates:

"It’s a nice feeling. It’s reassuring. You feel good about yourself. It’s just nice to help others out; everyone that helps us out, all the fans at the game. It’s nice to give back too."

Links of Wonder: Eric Anthony named student of the month this past May by the Baldwinsville Optimist Club.

What Does Shafer Think: He seems like an optimist himself, so he probably looks forward to coaching Eric.

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Eric won a lot of awards for being a good student and a generally good guy this past year:

This past fall Anthony was also the recipient of the Joe Witowski Student-Athlete Award from the Syracuse chapter of the New York State Certified Football Officials (NYSCFO). The annual award was established to recognize the highest academically ranked senior football player from among the schools that the Syracuse chapter services. The award was established in 1993 in memory of Witowski, a long-time official who was very active in the NYSCFO.

Let Us Get a Good Look Atchya: Eric is featured in this highlight video. Look out for #8.
