Get To Know Your Orange Man - #42 Jacob Green

Walk-on tight end Jacob Green enters his second year as a member of the Orange.

Name: Jacob Green

Position: Tight End

Year: Sophomore

Height: 6'1"

Weight: 245

Hometown: Seattle, WA

High School: Seattle Prep

2012 Stats: None

2013 Projections: Jacob is currently listed behind Beckett Wales and Josh Parris at the tight end slot. It's probably special teams or bust for the walk-on.

How'd He Get Here?: He hopped on I-90 East and drove for a while.

What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Nothing on Jake from them.

Money Quote: The man just wants to be appreciated...

Links of Wonder: There's very little about Green on the web. Here's the Syracuse.com post about him joining the team. It's something, I guess...

What Does Shafer Think: During the spring, Shafer and George McDonald discussed how thin the tight end position was, but appreciated the work that Green, Wales, and Parris put in:

"We only have three so they're like the unsung heroes," offensive coordinator George McDonald said. "They take a lot of reps during practice." "We're a little thin right now and a little young right now, but we've got some kids that can play," coach Scott Shafer said. "They're young so they're continuing to develop and learn the game," McDonald said. "Josh has a really good opportunity. He is big, strong guy, can be very strong at point of attack. Jacob is at a disadvantage in height-weight-speed ratio but he is probably our best technician."

Interesting Nugget O'Interest: Jacob is probably the first Syracuse athlete that I can remember whose major is Pre-med.
