...And we're back! The Get To Know Your Orange Man series is officially underway for the summer.
Name: John Raymon
Position: Defensive Line
Year: Sophomore
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 323
Hometown: Richboro, PA
High School: Council Rock North
2012 Stats: Raymon sat out the 2012 season after transferring from Iowa.
2013 Projections: Big John should be right in the middle of a strong Syracuse defensive tackle rotation. He is currently listed right behind starter Jay Bromley on the depth chart, but he is also listed as a defensive end on the team roster. At 323, I think that's a typo at this point.
How'd He Get Here?: My "Get to Know..." on Raymon from last summer sums things up well...
Raymon never really felt comfortable at Iowa, and withdrew from classes in October, and began to look for schools closer to the Philadelphia area, where he's from. He also specifically looked at Big East/ACC schools. Luckily for Syracuse, we're sort of both!
What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: Both sites gave John three stars. He had offers from a number of solid BCS programs out of high school, including Illinois, Purdue, Maryland, NC State, and West Virginia.

Links of Wonder: A look at John Raymon from back when he was starting at Iowa from The Gazette.
What Does Shafer Think: He thinks that John is a hard(nosed) worker, which is pretty big praise from Shafer. He also called him "a big old dog" once, which is awesome.
"He works hard," Shafer said. "When he makes a mistake he bounces back and replaces it with effort. I think that’s the biggest thing."
Interesting Nugget O'Interest: We don't hear as much about wingspan in football...but Raymon's is nearly seven feet. Watch those low throws, Mr. Rettig.
