Offensive Lineman Jamar McGloster is one of the most recent additions to the 2013 Syracuse Orange. Let's get to know him.
Name: Jamar McGloster
Position: Offensive Line
Year: Freshman
Height: 6'7"
Weight: 303
Hometown: Hillside, NJ
High School: Saint Anthony's
2012 Stats: Helped the Friars to an 8-3 record as a senior
2013 Projections: There is no doubt that Jamar, who only has two years of football under his belt, is a project player, so don't expect to see him out there for at least a year or so as he continues to develop and learn the game.
How'd He Get Here?: McGloster was not on many teams' radars because of his lack of football experience and his late qualifying SAT score, but when he became eligible for this upcoming season Syracuse swooped in with a late offer.
What'd Scout/Rivals Say?: He is unranked by the recruiting sites.
Money Quote: Jamar is very thankful to offensive line coach Pat Perles for the chance to play D-1 football:
"He was so confident in me," McGloster said of Perles. "I call him my savior. I killed it at the camp. He was committed to getting me at Syracuse."
Links of Wonder: Patrick Villanova of The Jersey Journal discusses McGloster's interesting path to Syracuse.
What Does Shafer Think: Not too much from any of the coaches directly, but clearly Perles and Shafer are pretty optimistic about McGloster's potential.
Interesting Nugget O'Interest: McGloster was turned onto football by legendary St. Anthony's basketball coach Bob Hurley.
Let Us Get a Good Look Atchya: Can't find any highlights, so we get the requisite poor quality dougie video.
