Rivalry: 2-0, Georgia Tech
Streak: Two, Georgia Tech (Duh)
First Meeting: The first meeting between the two schools took place in 2001 in East Rutherford, N.J. as part of the Kickoff Classic. The Yellow Jackets won the contest, 13-7.
Last Meeting: The history books will show that this was Paul Pasqualoni's last game as Syracuse head coach. The Orangemen were routed in the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando, FL, 51-14, thanks to a solid performance from Yellow Jackets' quarterback Reggie Ball, who threw two touchdown passes and ran for another. Running back P.J. Daniels also ran 17 times for 119 yards for GT. Meanwhile, Perry Patterson and Joe Fields played some quarterback for SU that day.
School Connections: There are no glaring connections between the two programs, but there will be six Syracuse players returning to their home state of Georgia -- Kennan Hale, Alex Hayes, Cameron Lynch, Josh Manley, Georgia Morris II and Josh Parrish.
Head Coaches: SU: Scott Shafer (1st Year, 3-3), Georgia Tech: Paul Johnson (6th, 43-29)
Last Year: The Yellow Jackets finished the season 7-7 earning a trip to the ACC Championship game thanks to winning the Coastal Division. Georgia Tech started the season 2-4 and then ran off four straight ACC victories to earn its third division title since 2006. The Yellow Jackets defeated USC in the Sun Bowl, 21-7.
"Fear Me, I've Killed Hundreds Of Timelords": Offensively, the GT is a mixed bag, but defensive end, senior Jeremiah Attaochu, was on the preseason watchlist of four major defensive awards after last season compiling a collegiate-best 10 sacks in 2012. Attaochu, who has logged 21 career sacks, is a team captain and has two sacks and 10 total tackles this season.
Last Game: After starting the season with three straight wins, the Yellow Jackets have dropped three in a row to fall to .500. Last week, they visited the caffeine-free town of Provo, UT and lost to BYU 38-20.
Fun Fact: Syracuse (421.2 yards per game) and Georgia Tech (423.3) have nearly identical offensive numbers.
