New, 1 comment

This 3-star defensive linemen made his verbal commitment on Christmas Eve. It was a nice surprise then and, hopefully, is a silent assassin waiting to break out.

Stat Me: Chris Slayton is 6-foot-3, 258-pound defensive end recruit from Crete-Monee High School located in the Chicagoland area. According to a Syracuse.com piece by Nate Mink, Slayton "boasts a 30-inch vertical, nine-foot broad jump and 295-pound power clean." Slayton was named to the Chicago Tribune All-State Second Team after compiling 45 tackles, six for loss, and nine sacks in his senior season.

Who's Crying?: Illinois, Kansas and Minnesota. He had other offers from Michigan State and Miami.

Money Quote: Slayton is the quiet type, but don't let that fool you:

"It's not a fear," Slayton said. "I'm just quiet. I don't really like talking."

Which SU Coach Gets a Bonus?: Rivals says Syracuse secondary coach Fred Reed was big in getting this Mid-Western stud.

Fun Fact: Slayton made his verbal commitment on Christmas Eve. It was a nice gift for the Syracuse coaching staff.
