National Signing Day 2013: Welcome to Kirk-land

Spring enrollee Josh Kirkland is on campus already, and adds some more athleticism to the linebacker corps.

Kansas native Josh Kirkland is another one of the six early enrollees for Syracuse, and should bring some athleticism and depth to SU's group of outside linebackers. ESPN notes his outside run support and range as a strength.

Stat Me: Josh recorded 66 tackles (35 solo), six sacks, and forced three fumbles this season.

Seein' Stars: Scout - 2*, Rivals - 2*, 247 - 2*, ESPN - 2*

Who's Crying?: It looks like SU was his only offer, but Josh got looks from Texas State and Houston.

Money Quote: Kirkland loved his visit to Syracuse...

"It was pretty amazing," Kirkland said of the visit. "Compared to Kansas, it’s quite a bit different. I had a great time, and it’s a great school."

New recruiting pitch: "Syracuse. We're not Kansas!"

Which SU Coach Gets a Bonus?: Kirkland committed after a Marrone in-home visit, and is also a big Shafer fan.

Fun Fact: Josh is enrolled in the School of Education. I don't think I've ever heard of an SU football player in the School of Ed, so that's pretty cool. Hopefully he gets an amicable student teaching schedule.
