National Signing Day: Tyler Provo Follows in Brother's Footsteps

Former Syracuse tight end Nick Provo was a major weapon for the Orange in seasons past. His younger brother Tyler joins the Orange in 2013.

Nick Provo was one of Syracuse's top targets in 2011, and under new offensive coordinator George McDonald it sounds like the tight end will be featured even more in the Syracuse offense. So why not bring in another Provo?

Stat Me: Provo didn't compile huge stats for American Heritage School, catching nine passes for 100 yards as a junior and missing much of his senior year due to injury. However, he has a reputation as an excellent blocker and a versatile player who can line up at tight end or in the backfield.

Who's Crying?: Boston College, FIU, Louisville, Minnesota, Pitt, Purdue, UCF, USF

Money Quote:

"I think I’m more of a tight end. And I like the way the Syracuse offense uses the tight end," said Tyler, who added he doesn’t mind the blocking aspect of the position at all. "I just don’t want to be known as a fullback."

Which SU Coach Gets a Bonus?: Nate Hackett...err...awkward

Fun Fact: Aside from the family connection, Tyler was also our first commit in this class.
