Game thread: CFP Championship Michigan vs Washington

Consider this a dress rehearsal for next year

NCAA Football: CFP National Championship-Washington at Michigan Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

Syracuse Orange fans are dreaming of being in this position next year. It’s College Football National Championship night as the 14-0 Michigan Wolverines take on the 14-0 Washington Huskies in Houston.

The game is scheduled for 7:30 on ESPN and I’m sure there are three of four Pat McAfee alternate broadcasts you can check out. Both teams are full of experienced players who returned to school for the chance to take home a ring.

Michigan is a five-point favorite according to our friends at DraftKings Sportsbook with the over/under set at 56. (For entertainment purposes I’ve got Michigan to win, Washington to cover and the under).

Some questions to ponder before the kick-off:

Will Michigan dominate the line of scrimmage tonight?

Can Michael Penix, Jr. cap his college career by leading his team to the upset win?

How mad is Greg Sankey that two Big 10 teams are playing for the title?

Just who is Syracuse going to get to fill out their 2024 football schedule next year? (Teasing a piece for tomorrow)

This is the final year of the four-team play-off and next year we’ll not only get 12 teams but a bracket for the Syracuse Orange to bust. We’ll be Apology Tour ready!
