ESPN’s No. 2 New York Prospect in the Class of 2024 will be staying home.
Caden Brown, a 6’3”, 210 lbs. defensive edge, announced his commitment to the Syracuse Orange on Sunday.
Brown attended Erasmus Hall High School in Brooklyn, playing under his father Alban, an SU football alum. The pair were just at the Dome for an official visit and it’s clear that Fran Brown and his defensive staff impressed the high three-star recruit:
“Continuing that legacy is meaningful,” Brown told 247 Sports. “Representing New York is important and being the only Power 5 program in the state aligns with that.”
Other offers came in from Rutgers, Penn State, West Virginia, Nebraska, Cincinatti, Pitt, Washington, and elsewhere.
His decision came within the hour of fellow edge rusher James Heard Jr. announcing he was transferring in from West Virginia. The duo could make up an explosive outside pairing for years to come in Central New York.
Overall, Caden is the ninth-highest rated prospect of the Orange’s next recruiting/transfer class - which has skyrocketed in the two weeks since Fran took over the program. It’s highly unlikely he or his staff is done, especially on the defensive side.
