With the holiday season upon us, Thursday turned into present-opening day for Syracuse lacrosse fans.

That present came in the form of the Syracuse Orange women’s lacrosse team’s announcement of their schedule for the 2024 season, and here it is in all its holiday glory:

The Orange’s schedule is as eye-poppingly competitive as ever, featuring 11 teams that played in last season’s NCAA Tournament and five that made it all the way to the quarterfinals. Between the strength of the ACC and the usual non-conference power players (Northwestern, Maryland, Stony Brook, Loyola), SU’s going to have their hands full essentially each and every time out.

The 16-game slate is composed of nine home and seven road games, as well as nine ACC and seven non-conference games.

The season starts in literally the hardest way possible as the Orange will play the defending national champions, Northwestern, on the road on February 10. The Wildcats will be looking for revenge after SU was the only team standing between them and a perfect season last year as they topped them in the season-opening barn burner in the JMA Dome.

Things don’t let up too much from there. Just four days later (Feb 14), ‘Cuse will return for the home opener against Orange alum Michelle Tumolo and her Army team coming off their 15-3 Patriot League title last year. Three days after that (Feb 17), SU plays host to Maryland for the second straight season.

The schedule strength keeps rolling with back-to-back ACC games with Notre Dame on the road (Feb 24) and Duke at home (Mar 2). After that, Stony Brook comes to town (Mar 5) before conference matchups with Virginia Tech (Mar 9) on the road and North Carolina (Mar 16) at home. The first half of this schedule is relentless.

Much like the men’s team, the women’s final month of the season will take place largely away from home due to the seating renovations taking place in the Dome. They only have one home game in April against Pittsburgh (Apr 6), and even that is scheduled to be played at Cicero-North Syracuse HS. Their final game in the Dome in the regular season is March 30 against Louisville. Let’s hope they can eventually add a May appearance to the list.

Here’s a look at the full schedule below: (*note: any game time or channel information was taken from opponent websites; none currently on
