Syracuse men’s lacrosse: Orange release 2024 schedule

Only 50 days until lacrosse season is back!

The holiday season may be upon us, but as of Thursday morning, the true most wonderful time of the year for Syracuse lacrosse fans is now officially on the horizon.

That’s right. The Syracuse Orange men’s lacrosse team announced their schedule for the 2024 season on Thursday, ensuring that visions of sugar-plums dancing will transform to thoughts of no-look passes and behind-the-back goals this coming spring.

‘Cuse’s 15-game slate features nine home games, four road games, and two neutral site games. Due to the Dome’s seating renovations, the schedule has a weird shape to it as the Orange open the season with a month-long home stand (so get ready for all of the comments about how SU hasn’t let the cozy confines of CNY) but also spend a month on the road from late March to late April to close the regular season.

The year begins with seven straight home games starting with Vermont on February 3 all the way to March 2 before SU heads out for back-to-back neutral site games with Johns Hopkins and Delaware in mid-March. They’ll return home to open ACC play with a March 20 game against Duke and then hit the road for their first true road game of the season in game number 11 against Hobart on March 23. That will be the first of four straight away contests before the season closes with a home game against Virginia on April 20.

For the first time post-pandemic, the ACC is returning to it’s four-game, single round robin regular season as the ACC Tournament will resume for the first time since 2019.

The 11-game non-conference schedule is going to be a doozy with ‘Cuse set to face the likes of Maryland, Hopkins, Cornell, Army and Delaware, and obviously that’s all on top of the absolute bear of a schedule against the other four ACC foes.

There’s a bunch of notable additions and subtractions this year. Cornell and Army are back on after one-year absences, and so is Colgate for the first time since 2020. Meanwhile, Albany is out for the first time since the I-90 rivalry began back in 2004. Princeton is also off after the Orange and Tigers met last season for the first time in a decade.

The non-conference also includes three first time opponents in Manhattan, the former home of new defensive coordinator John Odierna, Utah, and High Point. Additionally, Delaware is back on the schedule for the first time since all the way back in 1986.

Overall, the Orange are facing nine NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago out of their 15 games.
