It’s likely to change a lot more before 2024

As the Syracuse Orange football team prepares for next week’s Boca Raton Bowl, we’ve got a bunch of roster news to try and catch up on.

We reported on the first incoming transfer for Fran Brown, Georgia wide receiver Jackson Meeks and we’ve had a lot of news on the newest 2024 recruits, but there’s another side to report on, which are the players and commits moving on to other places.

Leon Lowery has committed to the Wisconsin Badgers after a very interesting process. Defensive back Malcolm Folk committed to Kent State. Other Syracuse defenders in the portal right now are defensive lineman Terry Lockett and Francois Nolton, linebacker Josiah Jeffrey and defensive backs Aman Greenwood, Quan Peterson and Jakobie Seabourn.

Last night it was the offense’s turn as running back Ike Daniels and wide receiver Isaiah Jones have put their names into the portal.

On the recruit front, Syracuse has had five recruits rescind their verbal commitments: Trashon and Travon Dye, Zekai Wimberly (committed to Hampton), Clinton Robinson and Matthew Stenbroten. That’s three linebackers who have decommitted along with the two transfers, so it certainly looks like a position we expect to see some additions before spring.

It’s just the beginning, but we’ll do our best to track the comings and goings as we move towards early signing day on December 20th.
