Syracuse football: first down offense vs Wake Forest

Syracuse had to grind this one out

NCAA Football: Wake Forest at Syracuse Rich Barnes-USA TODAY Sports

It felt like an offensive explosion this Saturday when the Syracuse Orange put up 468 yards and 35 points against Wake Forest.

Digging into the first down numbers showed that Syracuse wasn’t using the element of surprise on Wake on first downs, but they were able to make plays (especially on third down) to keep the chains moving and put up points.

I was in and out during the game and seeing there was only one punt is crazy. Outside of the failed end of half play, the Orange didn’t attempt a first-down pass, but in the second half they dialed one up to get what proved to be the game-winning touchdown.
