The Syracuse Orange (3-2) look to stop their slump when they wrap up the Maui Invitational against the host Chaminade Silverswords. Will Adrian Autry get his team to lock in before they head back to the mainland? Let’s check our predictions:

Kevin: Syracuse 87, Chaminade 60

Frustration is best flushed before this team boards the plane back home. The Orange are playing hard, but not smart. Were young players pressing against tougher competition? Did they have trouble getting into rhythm in a morning game? I don’t think it will matter, but it would be nice to see the team run some offense and all start getting in to help on the defensive glass.

Mike: Syracuse 77, Chaminade 55

There will be Changes in Attitude (and Latitude) after the Orange play a clean 40 minutes to close out their Hawai’ian excursion on a relaxing note. For all the problems of the last two days, SU was keeping pace with much better teams deep into the second half. They should not struggle with what’s essentially a third exhibition game - and even if ‘Cuse sputters at points, their opponent just shot 26% from the field yesterday.

Mike: Syracuse 83, Chaminade 59

As much as offense has been a concern the last two days, Chaminade’s defensive unit is not even close to being as strong as what Syracuse had to deal with against Tennessee and Gonzaga. Keep in mind that the Orange were still fairly in both its games in Maui until the final 5-6 minutes of the second halves in both contests. This time, the Orange should get off to a strong start and be in cruise control from there.

Max: Syracuse 80, Chaminade 64

The Orange paid for any little mistake they made against Tennessee and Gonzaga. Chaminade’s lack of size and shooting should allow SU some leeway, and I’m interested to see how the Silverswords defend Naheem McLeod in the paint. Regardless, Judah Mintz and J.J. Starling should get easy looks at the rim, and Adrian Autry’s various defensive alignments will cause Chaminade to struggle. Syracuse leaves the Aloha State with valuable experience and a much needed win.

Szuba: Syracuse 80, Chaminade 70

Expect Chaminade to come in and launch threes, so Syracuse has to chase these guys off the line and into the paint. McLeod should have an important role to play on both sides of the ball. The Orange should be able to score a little easier in this game so looked for the forwards to have increased production.
