The Syracuse Orange football team handled business against #ByeWeekU and are hoping the quick break is enough to regain some confidence for the rest of this season.

After a tough fall stretch, Syracuse is now 4-3 following a great 4-0 start after dropping games at home to Clemson and on the road against Florida State and North Carolina. Syracuse will look to avoid the 0-4 hole versus conference opponents Thursday night against the Virginia Tech Hokies, setting up Syracuse’s path of needing two more wins at least in five games.

But fear not, because our Duke’s Mayo Bowl O’Meter continues to hold strong in the optimism even after this ugly October. All of Syracuse’s opponents moving forward stand between two and four wins, and the Orange will have some solid chances to earn their way to a bowl game and a Duke’s Mayo shower for coach Dino Babers.

Let’s take a look at what this week’s bowl predictions show:

ESPN - Mark Schlabach and Kyle Bonagura

Wasabi Fenway Bowl vs SMU Mustangs

A 2023-2024 season preview? That just might make up for Syracuse needing to play in both the Red Sox and Yankees stadiums in the same season.

Tony the Tiger Sun Bowl vs USC Trojans

Now wait a minute... this could be a fun one. Yes, we likely get killed by 20 points or more as Caleb Williams simply outproduces anything Syracuse’s offense can come up with (Ed note: if he’s not an opt-out). We still get Tony the Tiger and Otto the Orange together, we still play a quality program and we begin the process of bringing some West Coast recruits on the charter plane back to the 315.

Military Bowl vs Navy Midshipmen

The Orange’s success against Army earlier this year makes this game an appealing one for #PublicRelations, but if this is the case, we’re going to need an itinerary for what’s actually something fun to do in Annapolis.

College Football News

Duke’s Mayo Bowl vs Florida Gators

Yes, yes, YES. This is a win all across the board, mainly because the Nunes Team gets weeks worth of #BRANDED content, but this is also generally a fun matchup for the end of the year.

An added bonus is that we get an orange, a gator and mayo serving as an unsurpassed mascot trio. An opportunity for a win versus the Gators is good for the Syracuse brand and we would get Garrett Shrader’s career ending in his hometown. We’re putting all our Nunes Bucks on this scenario.

(Writer’s note: die hard Miami Hurricanes fan here... this game is personal).

CBS Sports

Holiday Bowl vs Oregon State Beavers

CBS Sports remains consistent with this pairing, and I’m totally okay with it because it gives all of us ample time to come up with enough ACC expansion jokes to last until the end of winter.

Now it’s your turn: which bowl game do you want to see the Orange compete in?
