Whether or not the Syracuse Orange see success on Saturdays, you can be guaranteed there will be Orange on Sundays as the program has several players on NFL rosters this season contributing to their respective teams. Each week, we’ll recap the alumni action in one place in case you couldn’t flip through the channels fast enough.
Chandler Jones - Arizona Cardinals
Chandler was kept busy on Sunday, playing 90% of defensive snaps, wracking up 3 solo tackles, 1 for a loss, and a fumble recovery in a win against the Jaguars. While his on field performance remains strong, it appears as if he and the Cardinals are not close on agreeing on a new contract, the source of the preseason riff between him and the team.
Justin Pugh - Arizona Cardinals
Pugh had a rough game in the game against Jacksonville, suffering a back injury after playing just 43% of snaps. Pugh was hurt on the Jaguars’ 109 yard missed field goal return touchdown, with his status unclear for the big NFC West matchup versus the Los Angeles Rams this week.
Riley Dixon - New York Giants
Dixon was busy in the New York loss to the Atlanta Falcons, punting 5 times for an average of 45.8 yards with a long of 55 yards. Two of the kicks pinned the Falcons inside their own 20, with another taken as a touchback.
Zaire Franklin - Indianapolis Colts
The Colts Captain had a solid game in the loss to the Tennessee Titans, tallying two combined tackles in 21 defensive snaps and 18 special teams snaps.
Andre Cisco - Jacksonville Jaguars
Cisco’s defensive role dropped for the second consecutive week, tallying zero defensive snaps and playing exclusively on special teams with 20 snaps. For the moment, Andrew Wingard is Urban Meyer’s preferred free safety, getting 100% of defensive snaps.
Alton Robinson - Seattle Seahawks
Robinson had 5 total tackles, 3 solo tackles and 2 tackles for a loss in the team’s defeat to the Vikings. Alton saw his snap counts significantly increase, up to 42 total snaps (56%) on defense for the defensive end, a positive sign for his increased role in the Seahawks struggling defensive front.
Trill Williams - Miami Dolphins
Trill was inactive for the Dolphins loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Ifeatu Melifonwu - Detroit Lions
Iffy was placed on the IR by the Lions, so he will be out at least 3 weeks, if not longer.
Practice Squad Players: Koda Martin - Arizona Cardinals, Chris Slayton - Atlanta Falcons, Trishton Jackson - Minnesota Vikings,
