Name: Colby Barker
Weight: 215 lbs
Class: (Redshirt) Senior
Hometown: Pittsford, N.Y.
High School: Pittsford Mendon
2020 stats: Four games played, two ground balls, two caused turnovers... for the Ohio State lacrosse team. He played three years for the Buckeyes and then opted out of 2021 lacrosse due to the pandemic, walking on with the Orange to punt this year.
2021 projections: Sort of unsure. As a walk-on grad transfer, he’s at a bit of a loss, but he’s a college athlete and stranger things have happened than a lacrosse player walking on to punt at a P5 school. Without Nolan Cooney returning, things are open, though scholarship punter James Williams is the favorite to start. Barker will have two years of eligibility left.
How’d he get here?: As mentioned, Barker transferred from Ohio State.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Barker was a four star prospect from Inside Lacrosse and was an All-American at Pittsford Mendon.
Twitter feed: @barker_colby12
Tweets of wonder: Barker scoring a goal for the Buckeyes. Not football related, but cool nonetheless.
What movie would Dino recommend for him?: We’re could have gone with a lot of movies in the Infinity Saga, but Cobie Smulders plays Maria Hill in 2012’s original The Avengers. I think you all know what that movie is about.
Interesting nugget o’interest: Since we’re still on Olympians, former Olympian Abby Wambach is from his hometown of Pittsford. She had an amazing career with the US Womens National Soccer Team from 2001 - 2015, earning 255 caps and is the all-time leading goal scorer for men or women for the United States.
Let’s get a look at ya: Barker punting, in the cold, in April.
