Syracuse v Maryland

On Wednesday, the Syracuse Orange football team received a verbal commitment from Class of 2022 offensive tackle Chad Schuster from Franklin, Wisc. The three-star lineman announced his commitment via Twitter.

Schuster chose Syracuse over offers from a host of MAC schools including Ball State, Buffalo, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan and Toledo. He had also had some interest from Power Five schools like Florida State, Nebraska, Iowa, Northwestern and others, but the Orange were his only P5 offer. Schuster is listed at 6’6 and 280 pounds and Rivals has him listed as the #61 offensive tackle in the class.

Syracuse has faced a lot of issues with the offensive line recently so adding another player with good size on the outside is a positive sign. While the offer list might not be impressive to some of you, Schuster talked about his ability to play inside as well as at tackle to Mike McAllister earlier this year, and that position versatility appeals to the Orange. With the departure of at least Airon Servais after this season, adding another player who can potentially develop into a contributor is important.

Schuster becomes the 12th commit for the class of 2022, and the second offensive lineman, joining fellow tackle Joe Cruz. SU has four offensive commitments thus far, with Schuster, Cruz, running back LeQuint Allen and wide receiver Donovan Brown verbally pledging.

Welcome aboad, Chad. Let’s take a look at him in action last season.
