The Syracuse Orange have not been immune to the high transfer rate across college sports this season. We’ve written extensively about Orange players entering the infamous Transfer Portal, only to emerge in a new team’s jersey. One of the earliest entrants in the Portal was running back Jawhar Jordan, who has come out the other side in Louisville Cardinals colors, according to a report from 247Sports’ Stephen Bailey on Sunday:
Former Syracuse RB Jawhar Jordan says that he’s transferred to Louisville. The speedy redshirt freshman will face his old team in Cardinal Stadium on Nov. 13.

Jordan had entered the portal back in January. After coming into the 2020 season as the starter, injuries ended his campaign early, only to see freshman Sean Tucker emerge as a true every down back and take the starting job.
As I talked about last night with Steve and Christian, this move seems to indicate that Jordan was going to be pretty far down the depth chart. With Tucker entering camp as the assumed starter, Abdul Adams and Jarveon Howard returning to the program, and Cooper Lutz emerging as a Dino Babers favorite, it seems Jordan’s role would need to be fought for in camp and potentially reduced to specialist at best.
While it certainly hurts to loose Jordan, the Orange are playing from a position of strength (for now) with the running back room. Seeing Jordan later this season versus Louisville won’t be fun, and we can almost certainly imagine a scenario where Jordan plays a key role in the Cards’ offensive gameplan come the matchup.
