Name: Clay Masters
Position: Defensive Back
Year: Freshman
Height: 5’11”’
Weight: 175 pounds
Hometown: West Linn, Ore.
High School: West Linn
2020 stats: Don’t have the numbers, but he was first team all-state in Oregon 6A as a wideout as well as a cornerback and won a state title in the pandemic shortened season. The multisport athletes are always a great addition, and Clay was all-league as an outfielder as well.
2021 projections: Clay looks to be starting out his Orange career with the scout team, but he’s got some upside. Expect a redshirt and scout team run this season.
How’d he get here?: Got the PWO offer from Coach Cavanaugh and the Orange, and is heading east.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Nothing in the composite, but 247 gave him two stars.
Money Quote: Regarding his 6A title, from an interview with West Linn Tidings:
“This is the best feeling I’ve ever had — going out on top with my brothers one last time... With everything we’ve been through in the last 15 months, I mean, this is everything I could have asked for.”

Tweet O’Wonder: I had hopes, but this doesn’t bode well...

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: A long time ago, in an era known as the “eighties,” a movie was made based on a toy line that may or may not have been extremely weird and campy in the best way possible. That movie was 1987’s Masters of the Universe, starring Ivan Drago himself, Dolph Lundgren. Why wouldn’t he want to see He-Man battle Skeletor?
Interesting nugget o’interest: He’s got the brain-power to handle whatever the Orange can throw at him, being honored as a National Football Foundation Scholar Athlete:
