Name: Ryan Dolan
Position: Linebacker
Year: Freshman
Height: 6-foot-0
Weight: 229 lbs.
Hometown: Novato, Calif.
High School: Marin Catholic
2020 stats: The walk-on didn’t appear in any games for the Syracuse Orange last season.
2021 projections: Potentially more of the same, though opportunities could arise on special teams if he plays his cards right.
How’d he get here?: He was evaluating preferred walk-on spots, and both Iowa and Syracuse were interested. Lucky us, he opted for the Orange. Must like potatoes more than corn, I guess.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Nothing, unfortunately.
Money quote: Why do kids pick Syracuse? There’s no single right answer, though perceived toughness seemed to resonate a lot with Dolan.
“What resonated with me about the practice was just the toughness that people had. At my high school, that’s kind of what made my team and our program pretty good.”

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: Dolan Wilson has appeared in small roles as part of several well-known films. One of those is 2006’s We Are Marshall, where he plays a steel worker. I’m sure the movie is in Dino’s in-season rotation.
Interesting nugget o’interest: Ryan’s not the first Division I football player in his family. His father played at Lehigh “back in the day.” Perhaps he even competed for a Middle Three Conference championship?
Let’s get a look at ya: Of course you’re here for high school highlights. Why wouldn’t you be?
