Welcome to the quarterfinals of The Basketball Tournament! After a couple weeks of action, it’s down to eight squads. And most importantly for Syracuse Orange fans, Boeheim’s Army is playing Golden Eagles on Saturday to decide who gets to the semifinals — aka the Final Four, if not for copyright concerns.
Boeheim’s Army’s taken an interesting road to get to Dayton, with three straight wins in differing fashion. Following a strong close vs. Forces of Seoul in the first round, they got into a tight one against Team Heartfire in round two. But then it was back to business in the “Sweet 16” as the mostly Syracuse alumni squad beat Always a Brave by 15.
Meanwhile, defending champs Golden Eagles have been pretty electrifying in this event. The top seed in the Illinois region defeated BT Ballers by 28 in round one, then squeaked by Playing for Jimmy V in round two before a 13-point victory vs. Autism Army to get here. Elgin Cook has been the most consistent scorer for the Marquette-focused squad, but Dwight Buycks, Jamil Wilson and others have all contributed to a high-powered offense.
The game tips at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN, and this is your place to talk about all of the action. Recap coming afterward as well. G’ORANGE Boeheim’s Army!
