Get to Know Your Orange Man: #11, QB Dillon Markiewicz

The Texas QB has an uphill battle in the depth chart.

Syracuse v Maryland

Name: Dillon Markiewicz

Position: Quarterback

Year: Freshman

Height: 6’5”

Weight: 228 lbs.

Hometown: McKinney, Tex.

High School: McKinney North

2020 stats: Two appearances. One pass. No completions. Not much to go off of. Preserved that redshirt though.

2021 projections: I’d assume he’s a bit down the depth chart, with Tommy DeVito and Jacobian Morgan returning, and Garrett Schrader coming on transfer. He’s got the opportunity to work himself up there at least above Morgan, but coming off last season, it looks like he’s at least fourth on the depth chart.

How’d he get here?: Syracuse grabbed him over late offers from Texas State, Stephen F. Austin and finally Boise State.

What’d recruiting sites say?: ESPN and 247 - 3-star, while Rivals - Unranked.

Money quote: His head coach on the position they thought Dillon would be in, coming in...

“I do know they felt like he had a chance to come in and be high up on the (depth) chart early,” Fecci said.

Tweets of wonder: Getting some reps in with little bro —

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: He’s from Texas and Dillon High School was the name of the school in Friday Night Lights. It’s too easy, but it’s also too perfect. Go watch it. There’s football and things. Michael B. Jordan even shows up for a while in later seasons.

Interesting nugget o’interest: Dillon has a twin brother, Austin, who was a three-star offensive line prospect this previous cycle. He wound up signing with Texas State, which also offered Dillon.
