Name: JaCobian Morgan
Position: Quarterback
Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 223 lbs.
Class: Freshman
Hometown: Canton, Miss.
High School: Canton
2020 stats: Given the injury situation for the Syracuse Orange last year, Morgan was thrust into a stating role in his first year on campus. He wound up starting two games and playing in four overall before succumbing to the injury bug himself. When he was playing, he completed 31 of 49 passes for 285 yards and two scores.
2021 projections: It’s not a knock on Morgan, but admittedly, we’d probably rather he was relegated to relief duty only this year. With luck, either Tommy DeVito can stay healthy or Garrett Shrader successfully steps in to replace him. If more names are involved this fall, then injuries have probably reared their ugly head once again.
How’d he get here?: JaCobian wasn’t heavily recruited out of high school given that he was pretty new to the QB position by the time he graduated. He had offers from Jackson State and Austin Peay, and the SU offer convinced him to commit in January 2020 before signing in February.
What’d recruiting sites say?: ESPN and 247Sports were happy to give him three stars, even if Rivals only doled out two.
Money quote: Dino Babers was talking about the Orange QB situation recently and had this to say about Morgan (and others):
“Our top five is really good. Between Dillon and JaCobian and Justin, those guys are good. JaCobian got reps, and he did some things out there, like, ‘wow,’ for a freshman that hasn’t redshirted yet, ‘woah.’”

Tweets of wonder: Something many of us were thinking around mid-year...
I just turned on the #Syracuse game, watched JaCobian Morgan throw one pass, and am wondering how he’s just starting now

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: How about acclaimed 2015 film Room? The film follows a mother (Oscar winner Brie Larson) and son (Jacob Tremblay) as they learn how to experience the outside world after being held captive for seven years.
Interesting nugget o’interest: Morgan’s middle name is Montreal. Combined with the program’s various Canadian connections, it seems like him winding up at SU was preordained.
Let’s get a look at ya: The moment when the JaCobian Morgan hype train started last year.
