Potentially a future key depth player at LB

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NOV 02 Boston College at Syracuse Photo by Gregory Fisher/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

Position: Linebacker

Year: Freshman

Height: 6’4”

Weight: 218lbs

Hometown: Elizabeth, N.J.

High School: North Brunswick

2020 stats: Lowery saw limited action in his first season with the Orange, totaling five tackles in three games.

2021 projections: Given Tony White’s love for using many linebackers during a game, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that Lowery sees some more game time to keep the unit fresh. More likely than not, Lowery is probably looking at a bit more special teams work before settling on the two-deep.

How’d he get here?: Rutgers, Buffalo, Temple, and Indiana submitted an offer for Lowery.

What’d recruiting sites say?: Three stars all around.

Money quote: We know Babers loves a workout room warrior, and Lowery added 20 pounds to his frame between his junior season and his commitment to the Orange.

“It’s just getting in the weight room, lifting and practice,” Lowery said. “You just can’t get up and say, ‘Oh, I want to be good at football.’ You have to put the work in over the summer – work, lift, run, eat. Conditioning is a main thing. The biggest part is discipline. You have to read your guys. Discipline is part of everything.”

Tweets of wonder: Lowery got Batman honors from SU’s comic 2019 recruit reveals:

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: Dino probably loves a good thriller, and he probably really loves “War of the Worlds” from 2005. Part of that movie was filmed in Lowery’s hometown of Elizabeth, New Jersey.

Interesting nugget o’interest: What was the main reason that Lowery added 20 pounds to his body between his junior and senior season of high school? Lowery had never played defense until his junior season, and suddenly emerged as a talent after collecting nine sacks over a three game period early in the year.

Let’s get a look at ya: The Hudl is strong with this one.
