Name: Ja’Vontae Williams
Position: Wide Receiver
Year: Freshman
Height: 6’0”
Weight: 201 lbs.
Hometown: Belle Glade, Fla.
High School: Glades Central
2020 stats: A strange season allowed Williams to play in five games as a freshman, while still maintaining his eligibility. He didn’t record any meaningful stats, but getting run is still getting run.
2021 projections: While he didn’t technically redshirt, he did get that year of eligibility back from the NCAA, so that experience can only help him. I would assume we see him in the platoon at times and some special teams work as well.
How’d he get here?: Offers ranged from Oregon, Miami, Indiana, Illinois, USF, and FIU with a sprinkling of others.
What’d recruiting sites say?: Concensus 3-stars.
Money quote: Not a ton out there so we’ll stick to his commitment tweet.

Tweets of wonder: Might as well showcase one hell of a catch he made in the spring session. High point all day.

What movie would Dino recommend for him?: In a change of pace, we’re going with a composer link. The 1976 seminal summer blockbuster Jaws, directed by Steve Spielberg was composed by the maestro himself, John Williams. It’s possibly close to a perfect movie, so I think Dino would approve.
Interesting nugget o’interest: Hailing from what is known as “Muck City” in Florida, along with Latarie Kinsler and Ja’tarie Washington, the area is also home to at least 15 former NFL players, including Travis and Kelvin Benjamin, Barkevious Mingo and Freddy Taylor
Let’s get a look at ya: It’s no HUDL, but it’s highlights!
